FYI:

Looking to improve in this area of pressuring the quarterback, Jacksonville did sign defensive end Aaron Kampman to a four-year, $24 million deal in March. Kampman was a great pass-rusher for the Packers, generating 38 sacks between 2006 and 2008 in the 4-3, before struggling in the Pack’s new 3-4 last season prior to tearing his ACL in November. If healthy, Kampman could dominate for the Jaguars, which is a good thing because, unfortunately, if Kampman cannot get to the quarterback, there may be no one else in Jacksonville who will.

Cranberry Muesli

Posted by thornton On October - 25 - 2010

There may be as many versions of muesli as there are breakfast cereals, but this one’s modeled after the original Swiss wake-you-up—a combination of overnight-soaked grains, nuts, dried fruit and yogurt. Make it the night before and you’ll have breakfast ready when you are.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened or fruit-juice-sweetened cranberry juice
  • 6 tablespoons old-fashioned rolled oats, (not quick-cooking or steel-cut)
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Jaguars Football: October 24th Jax vs. KC Chiefs

Chiefs vs. Jaguars Tickets at Arrowhead Stadium

Watch: CBS

FYI:

In today’s pass-happy NFL, defenses usually need to have the ability to put consistent pressure on the quarterback to be successful, but sadly the Jaguars finished 24th in points allowed and 27th versus the pass because they simply were not able to accomplish this. In fact, Jacksonville finished dead last in the NFL in sacks, with their total (14) being less than two individual players – Elvis Dumervil (17) and Jared Allen (14.5) – and only one to 1½ better than three other individuals, with no player tallying more than three.

3 Tips for Sleeping Better Sooner

Posted by thornton On October - 18 - 2010

For the past week or so I have had a great deal of trouble sleeping. I can’t seem to get to sleep, and I wake up much to early, leaving me fatigued and underwhelmed for the day ahead. Do you ever feel like that?

I don’t believe it’s full-blown insomnia yet, but in the chance that my “condition” may be fast approaching that diagnosis, I’ve decided to try a few new things to help me catch some Zzzs. If you feel as though you could be resting better ( and chances are that’s the case for everyone reading this), try some of these ideas:

Jaguars Football: October 18th Jax vs. TN Titans

Jaguars vs. Titans Tickets at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium

Watch: ESPN

FYI:

The greatest offensive question mark for the Jags is on the line, where second-year tackles Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton are penciled in as starters. Both players struggled last year, allowing a combined 14 sacks, but should be somewhat improved with one year under their belts, but to what extent is still unknown. As for the interior line, Jacksonville made a nice trade in acquiring Justin Smiley from Miami for a seventh-round pick. Although plagued by injuries so far, if Smiley can remain healthy, he will be a huge upgrade over Uche Nwaneri, who would then probably step over to center, replacing the mediocre Brad Meester and strengthening the Jaguars further up front.
